An everyday conversation rarely is prepared before. Nevertheless people exchange huge amount of non-verbal information. Of course there are some that are sent independently of what is being said. The non-verbal communication is everything one produces during conversation or speech but words and language. The range of this kind of communication is extremely broad, starting from clothing and posture and ending on gestures and everything that may be done during a conversation. Those can be divided into three different communicative functions. The first one is to send certain specific meanings by gestures and movements that are usually recognized all over the world, for example sign of peace made of two fingers (which have to be considered in PR translation as well). The second is to show people one"s emotional disposition by using for example facial expressions, like a smile for being happy. Third, it is a crucial part of spoken channel, makes it more reliable or totally unreliable, for example when one laughs and has a big smile on face and claims he or she is totally sad. The most familiar way of non-verbal communication is using gestures, which are followed by specific meaning which, when made intentionally, are considered to be arbitrary and symbolic. All in all, we have to remember that PR translation differs in functions and situations. Not only words have to be translated but gestures and signs. That is why translator"s work is difficult.
